Slack is the gold standard of team communication apps because of its rich array of chat features and friendly interface. Few other apps even come close.
Slack is pretty good but I feel like the Wirecutter team discounted Zulip too quickly. Slack is pretty bad at threads. I like Zulip’s approach, it should get more credit for what they’re trying to do.
Side note: recommending new Google products for anything is risky. They have a history of dumping products, even the ones that work well. There is a whole website dedicated to Google’s dead projects.
We tried Zulip recently, it’s really great at enabling productive discussions! It’s actually so good that it kills random chatter (to the point where we missed it). Also the mobile app needs some work. So.. not for all use cases, but should definitely be more on everyone’s radar
I got the same impression from my tests! That’s why I think @Zulip is a real pretender to the crown of “email killer” π§π‘οΈ
and move informal chatter somewhere else π
